My wife called in to discuss the discrepancy in price and the discrimination because we are bringing a child. The innkeeper stated that she would call my wife back as she was busy at the moment. She did call my wife back. My wife missed the call and upon further discussion, we decided since the owner wasn't very welcoming and arrogant, we'd prefer to write up our negative experience than spend our vacation and money at the Umpleby House.
Yesterday, I called to book a room for 2 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday (Wednesday & Thursday). I was told by the innkeeper that it shouldn't be a problem to bring my 9 month son (at the time of visit). We were quoted $305. Today, I called back to book the room and had the unfortunate experience in speaking with the owner. The owner stated that it's there's a holiday fee and there's a $20/night "kid fee," both of which I was not informed of yesterday-bringing the price up $100 more. The owner came off as pompous and decided that my son was at a "teething age" and would be disruptive. Not his call. Their website also states that they are "kid friendly."
